Gilberto Perlotto rappresenta la quarta generazione di un’arte fabbrile famigliare, che ha saputo portare da una origine artigianale ad una eccellenza artistica, grazie ad un talento unico e pluripremiato. Gibo, classe 1959, nella sua casa-bottega adagiata sui monti Prelessini è figlio d’arte, è il quarto discendente di una famiglia di artisti fabbrili. Nipote di Antonio Lora, artista di fama indiscussa e figlio di Germano Perlotto dal quale apprende le tecniche di lavorazione dei metalli e l’arte di forgiare il ferro.
Una carriera di quasi quarant’anni che lo ha portato presso i Musei mondiali più noti (MOMA New York City, Louvre di Parigi, solo per citarne alcuni), che Perlotto vuole ripercorrere in questo nuovo allestimento, del tutto eccezionale, pensato e realizzato dall’artista stesso solo per Verona.

Iron and Veiled Realities
In favour of a new moment of significant exhibition, the Museum sheds its everyday attire to reveal its full mystical beauty to an Artist of international renown, a leading representative of Italian Hyperrealism, who has chosen to share with the Museum the exhibition of 30 works – some from private collections, others shown for the very first time – Angelo Gilberto Perlotto, known as “Gibo”.
A Vicenza-born artist who lives and works in Trissino, Gilberto Perlotto represents the fourth generation of a family tradition of metal artistry, which, from its artisanal origins, he has elevated to artistic excellence thanks to a unique and award-winning talent.
Gibo, born in 1959, works from his house-workshop nestled in the Prelessini mountains. An heir to a lineage of smith-artists, he is the fourth descendant of a family of metal craftsmen. Grandson of Antonio Lora, an artist of indisputable renown, and son of Germano Perlotto, from whom he learnt the techniques of working with metals and the art of forging iron.
With a career spanning nearly forty years, which has taken him to the world’s most prestigious museums (MOMA New York City, the Louvre in Paris, to name but a few), Perlotto now retraces this extraordinary journey through a new, entirely exceptional exhibition, conceived and curated by the artist himself, solely for Verona.
